Belarusian peacekeepers have made a considerable contribution to stabilization of the situation in Kazakhstan. The President met with the contingent that had returned from a combat mission at the Machulischy Military Airfield on Saturday.

Belarusian peacekeepers as part of the CSTO forces took part in the operation to resolve the crisis situation in the Central Asian republic. Ten aircrafts with Belarusian servicemen on board had landed the day before.

The operation in Kazakhstan was the first time when CSTO peacekeeping forces were actually involved in ensuring the security and integrity of one of the member states.

The head of the state welcomed the servicemen to their native land, noting the successful completion of the peacekeeping mission, which has made a significant contribution to the stabilization of the situation in Kazakhstan.

Defense Minister: Belarusian peacekeepers accomplished their tasks in Kazakhstan with excellence

A little earlier, on behalf of the President, the Defense Minister decorated the servicemen who participated in the peacekeeping mission. While addressing the contingent personnel, Viktor Khrenin said that the Belarusian troops performed their tasks perfectly. We know the value of peace. And our forces came to Kazakhstan in order to help the brotherly nation to restore the constitutional order and contribute to the normalization of life in the country. Belarusian peacekeepers will continue to set an example in the fulfillment of their military duty.
