The event "Memory of the Heart" continues to unite the memorable places of Belarus. Yesterday, it was held in Novogrudok District on the day of the burning of three villages - Otminovo, Detomlya and Molochki. On December 17, 1943 the punitive expeditioners completely destroyed two villages, and in the third one, 54 out of 80 houses were burned. Thus, the Nazis punished the local population for their active assistance to the partisans. Hundreds of people were burned and killed. More than one and a half thousand people were left homeless . This day for the villagers has forever become the Day of Remembrance. They come to the memorial to remember each deceased fellow countryman. Among the participants of the action are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of those who miraculously survived during the punitive operation.
Valeria Efremenko, student of an all-Lyubov kindergarten - high school: "Our area has suffered a lot and we will do everything so that there is no war, that there is peace, it is very important to remember, because our great-grandfathers fought and gave us victory."
Valentina Samuskevich, a resident of the village of Otminovo, a participant in the events of 1943: "God forbid you to see what happened. Kab never. We have suffered. Our generation has suffered so much."
According to local tradition - people are given white bread - (this is gratitude for salvation). And in memory of the destroyed civilians - they light candles and lay wreaths ...
