The situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the security of the CSTO member states became one of the topics of discussion during the meeting between the Secretary of State of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich and the leadership of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies. The expert community states that the troops of the Western coalition have left Afghanistan, but the traditional problems for this country remain. Unfortunately, the threats of the export of terrorism and extremism, the problems of illegal migration, drug production and distribution in the post-Soviet space remain.

The situation is not easy, but under control, according to Alexander Volfovich. All the necessary resources to normalize the situation in the CSTO format are available. One of the analysts shared his opinion on the topic of Afghanistan.

The Secretary of State of the Security Council noted that in modern conditions of high uncertainty, deliberate distortion of information, manipulation of the consciousness of the people, effective socio-economic and political development requires intellectual support. And such support is provided by the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies. In the face of the growing demand for qualitative analysis, and not for pseudo-analysts, the institute has managed to form a highly professional pool of new opinion leaders.
