Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas Eve on December 6

Today is Christmas Eve in the Orthodox Church. The largest confession in Belarus, together with the whole Eastern Christian world, is going to celebrate one of the brightest and most important holidays - Christmas. About 2 thousand Orthodox parishes all over the country are getting ready for the solemn liturgy. The Lenten fast is coming to an end. After midnight and the meeting of the Star of Bethlehem, the holiday will take effect. 

The Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk will be the center of the festive divine services. The festive liturgy will be headed by Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Benjamin, the High Priest of All Belarus. Traditionally, the Christmas service will be broadcast live by the Belarusian TV and Radio Company. The program will start after "Panorama" at 21:50. Tomorrow morning at 06:25, on Christmas morning, Lord Veniamin will say his greetings to the faithful on TV channel Belarus 1.
