75 anniversary of Auschwitz liberation to be marked on January 27

26 января 2020
On January 27, Soviet soldiers liberated Auschwitz, the largest death camp. It was there that during the Second World War the Germans first experienced gas poisoning of people. It is conservatively estimated that almost one and a half million people were killed in the Auschwitz camp.

The archives of Auschwitz contain information about 13 trains that arrived from Belarus. When in January 1945 the Soviet troops approached Auschwitz, about 7 thousand prisoners remained in the camp. On that day, January 27, 1945, the world learned about the Nazi crimes that Belarus still remembers.
