Today all schools in Belarus will hold a lesson of remembrance. For example, Vitebsk remembers the events of the winter of 1943, when one of the most terrible punitive operations "Winter Magic" started in the region. Its purpose was to destroy everything in its path, to burn villages and eradicate the local population. In the Year of historical memory, the schoolchildren and students of the north will also become the authors and participants of other patriotic projects.
A tragic fate also befell the inhabitants of the village of Shunevka in the Dokshitsky District. In the spring of 1943, the Nazis herded the villagers into the barn and set it on fire, they threw the children into the well and pelted them with grenades. A memorial was built on the place of the burnt village.
