On October 18-19 exercises to be held to respond to radiation accidents

The active phase will take place at the site of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Foreign observers are invited to follow the course of training maneuvers.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, 274 people of personnel and 52 units of equipment will be deployed during the exercise. Rescuers, the military, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Health will work out joint actions in conditions of possible contamination. Based on the results of the exercises, the external emergency plan of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant will be refined.

The upcoming exercises were discussed today in Minsk during the 10th meeting of the Coordination Council for Emergency Situations of the CSTO.

During the exercise, Belarus will act in strict accordance with the recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency and regard safety issues in the implementation of the national nuclear power program as the absolute priority.
