By Inna Pilevich: The winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition Nadine Koutcher will for the first time perform the leading part in the Tsar’s Bride opera at Belarus’ Bolshoi Theatre. It is the aria from Tsar’s Bride that brought Koutcher the victory in the international contest in the UK.
Only two representatives of the former Soviet Union - Dmitry Khvorostovsky and Ekaterina Shcherbachenko - have won the vocal competition throughout its history.
The leading parts in Tsar's Bride will be performed by Nadine Koutcher and Oksana Volkova - the only Belarusian in New York’s Metropolitan Opera.
