26th Slavic Bazaar festival closes in Vitebsk

By Olga Maslovskaya: The 26th International Festival of Arts Slavic Bazaar finished yesterday with a closing ceremony at the Summer Amphitheater. The final show featured such artists as Valery Meladze, Tatiana Bulanova, Denis Maidanov, Ruslan Alekhno and Soso Pavliashvili.

The results of the International Pop Song Performers Contest were also announced. The Belarusian President’s special prize Slavic Hope was awarded to Croatian performer Nina Kraljic. The third place and a cash prize of 5,000 dollars went to Serbian Nevena Bozovic. Belarusian Egor Sharankov took the second place. The first prize and a cash prize of 15,000 dollars went to Vlad Sytnik of Ukraine.

Festival events — the concerts by Chanson Stars, Egor Kreed and the band Splin — will continue in Vitebsk for two more days.

Slavic Bazaar was covered by 500 journalists from over 100 media and followed by several thousand visitors and a multimillion television audience. This year, the geography of the festival’s participants expanded to include Ecuador and Nigeria. Slavic Bazaar featured 5,000 participants, 130 projects and 18 spectacular shows at the Summer Amphitheater alone.
