Chess castle dated 14th century found during excavations in Grodno

The chess castle lay in the ground for almost 6 centuries. The figure was found in Grodno during excavations in the museum complex of the Old Castle. The artifact lay in the cultural layer of the 14th century. Presumably these are the times of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vitovt. The figure is well preserved. According to preliminary information, it was made from an animal's horn.

Now the Grodno chess castle has been transferred for storage and preservation to the funds of the Grodno Museum.
