Today, one of the authors of the Belarusian anthem, a poet, translator and journalist Vladimir Karizna celebrates his 80th anniversary. A native of a village in Minsk Region, Vladimir Karizna produced about 30 collections of poetry, but gained real fame as a songwriter. About 200 songs have been composed based on his lyrics.
Vladimir Karizna also wrote children's books and became a laureate of the State Prize, a literary prize the Golden Cupid. Also, Vladimir Karizna is an honoured worker of Belarusian culture and founder of the creative dynasty. His son is a professional composer, and his grandson is a famous cellist.
