By Nina Mozheiko (live): Vitebsk is getting ready for the official opening of the 26th Slavic Bazaar. Already now, the festival programme is quite busy, though!

A Welcome Day – both literally and figuratively – started with the opening ceremony of the National Press Center of the festival. Journalists fr om different countries gathered here. All in all, there are about 4,000 registered participants at the forum. The geography of the festival has long gone beyond the borders of the Slavic countries. This year, the forum is attended by 36 countries. There are representatives of Nigeria and Ecuador. 36 flags can already be seen at the Summer Amphitheater. One more flag – the flag of the festival – was solemnly raised at the ceremony.

At noon, one more star was added to the Square of Stars – in the square of polished granite adorned with a cornflower, the name of People's Artist Tamara Gverdtsiteli was immortalized. She became the owner of a special Presidential award – Through Art to Peace and Mutual Understanding. The President will present the statuette personally at the upcoming ceremony.

Right now we are at the Vitebsk Concert Hall, wh ere in an hour the name of the Grand Prix winner of the International Children Music Contest Vitebsk-2017 will be announced.

This year, there were 21 contestants. During the two competitive days, young vocalists demonstrated their talents in different styles and genres. And now, they only have to worry behind the scenes. Their senior colleagues are getting ready to go on stage.
