An exhibition of graphic works by Marc Chagall has opened in Vitebsk. The artist’s native city is for the first time exhibiting a complete collection of graphic illustrations made by Chagall to Nikolai Gogol's novel Dead Souls. The collection consists of 96 etchings, including Chagall’s first graphic etching Grandmother and a print made shortly before his death.
Vitebsk will celebrate the 130th birth anniversary of Marc Chagall with exhibitions, plein airs and performances. June 10 will see the launch of the traditional Chagall readings to feature art experts from Belarus, Russia and the USA.
