Belarus has bid farewell to People's Artist Mai Dantsig. The holder of the Francysk Skaryna Order would have turned 87 next month.
Mai Dantsig brought up several generations of painters, for many years heading a department at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. Dantsig is a classic realism representative. His painting And the Saved World Remembers has been exhibited in many countries. Works by Mai Dantsig are kept in museums and galleries in Russia, Belarus, Europe and the USA.
A civil funeral service for Mai Dantsig in Minsk’s House of Officers was held with full honors, accompanied by the Honor Guard. The Belarusian President expressed condolences to the artist's relatives and friends.
Mai Dantsig has been buried in the Eastern Cemetery in Minsk.
