Belarusian culture festival ends in Poland

By Larisa Gulyakevich: This is one of the biggest forums in the Bialystok region. Belarus and Poland have long had good neighborly relations. Thousands of ethnic Belarusians live in the Bialystok region. They are proud of their roots and preserve native folklore.


Yan Sychevsky, Chairman of the Belarusian Public and Cultural Association in Poland: About 200-250,000 Belarusians live in the Bialystok region and in Poland in general. So this is not a small community. For hundreds of years these people have been creating their culture, customs and traditions.


One of the founders of the International Festival of Belarusian Culture is politician Pavel Latushko.


Yuri Ostapchuk, host of the Prymatskaya Biaseda, is also head of the Prymaki musical band. Biaseda from Minsk is a loyal friend and a permanent member of the Belarusian holiday in Poland. Tens of music groups from neighboring countries performed on stage in Poland. The famous Khoroshki, Nerush, Raskosha and other professional groups from Belarus were warmly received by the public. In general, Prymatskaya Biaseda was attended by about 10,000 people.
