Today, the National Library of Belarus is hosting a congress timed to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing. Hundreds of scholars, book experts and archivists from 24 countries came to the Belarusian capital. The congress, supported by the UNESCO, will summarize and systematize the latest developments and facts about the personality of the Belarusian book printer Francisk Skorina and his followers.
Among the highlights of the congress are a meeting of the Library Assembly of Eurasia and round tables on Skorina’s documentary heritage, as well as a large-scale exhibition project Skorina and his Era. Also, tomorrow, the National Library of Belarus is celebrating its 95th anniversary.
