The 12th Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of CIS opened in Moscow. One of the main events was the Commonwealth Star award. The winners were representatives of eight countries. They are artists, composers, choreographers, scholars, and literary critics. The main humanitarian award of the CIS went to the Belarusian philologist Ivan Saverchenko. He put together and adapted for the Russian-speaking reader seven works of Belarusian literature from the 10th to the first half of the 20th century.
Also within the framework of the Forum, the exhibition Three Sophias opened. The pictures painted by 12 young artists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine present the three famous cathedrals – the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk, the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Novgorod, and the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kiev. All of them have a similar architecture and are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List
