National festival of Belarusian song and poetry starts in Molodechno

Today, the 18th national festival of Belarusian song and poetry starts in Molodechno. This year's music festival will be dedicated to the Year of the Small Motherland and the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR and Belarus Igor Luchenok. The forum will open with a concert Melody of Destiny, which will include songs by Igor Luchenok. Traditionally, the National Academic Concert Orchestra of Belarus under the leadership of Mikhail Finberg will perform at the concert.

Irina Dryga, the Deputy Minister of Culture of Belarus: "The topic of the small motherland is one of the main motifs in the work of Igor Luchenok. He has written many songs that are dedicated to various places in Belarus, including one dedicated to his small motherland – the town of Maryina Horka. Also, we will have special exhibitions, including an exhibition of artists from Molodechno. The Molodechno Drama Theatre will perform and a number of concerts will be held."

Also, within the framework of the festival Molodechno 2018, the national contest of young performers of the Belarusian song will be held. The winner of the grand prize and the prize of Vladimir Mulyavin will be awarded.
