Traditional Christmas Opera Forum starts in Minsk

The forum, which will be held at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, will feature more than ten theatrical productions and soloists from 16 countries.

By Natalia Bordilovskaya: The 4th Christmas Forum will be opened with a sensational premiere - The Flying Dutchman by Richard Wagner. For the first time, the opera was presented 150 years ago in Dresden.

Director Hans-Joachim Frey and conductor Manfred Meyerhoffer were invited from Germany to stage The Flying Dutchman in Belarus. The leading roles are played by the Belarusian opera soloists - Yanosh Nelepa, Stanislav Trifonov and Nina Sharubina.

Another premiere of the Christmas forum is Turandot performed by invited soloists. The Mikhailovsky Theatre from St. Petersburg will present A Masked Ball by Verdi. This year's peculiarity is presentation of 5 chamber operas. The final gala concert will bring together representatives from 16 countries.
