The Yanka Kupala Theatre in Minsk has turned into an art gallery. Ahead of World Theatre Day, a photo exhibition called In-Formal opened here. The author of the photos is Maxim Korosteliov, an actor of the Yanka Kupala Theatre. His pictures feature actors during rehearsals, performances, and the theatre’s tours. All the photos were made on film. Most of the work was done by hand. Especially for this Maxim Korosteliov built a personal photo lab.
Maxim Korosteliov, an actor of the National Academic Theatre named after Yanka Kupala:
"I have worked at the Theatre for 4 years now. I have always been interested in photography and I would frequently make photos of my colleagues during rehearsals. Then I saw that I had quite a nice collection of pictures and decided to make something out of them – an exhibition that will bring people great pleasure. I believe the actors of the Kupala Theatre deserve it because they are just like the film I used for these photos – they are authentic, natural, and real."
The exhibition opened the Week of Theatre at the Yanka Kupala Theatre. The programme also includes a creative meeting with the director Nikolai Pinigin, as well as lectures, discussions, and a tour about the backstage of the academic scene.
