The first Flax Carousel Festival was held in the small town of Korma, Gomel Region. The festival included a flax parade, master classes, and a defile. Also, dishes of national cuisine were served. A museum of flax in the open air was set up where people could learn about the "Belarusian silk".
Natalia Sidorova, the deputy chairman of the Kormyansky District Executive Committee:
"We wanted to get all our friends together. We wanted people to learn about this place. And we want to see more guests and tourists here. We expect that in the future the festival will contribute to the development of our economy."
The organizers of the festival were the local regional executive committee and representatives of the UN.
