By Yuri Yaroshik: Belarus’ NaviBand have advanced to the Eurovision Grand Final and will take the stage at number three. Today, the artists are scheduled to participate in a rehearsal of the large-scale show. The flag ceremony to open the Grand Final will be rehearsed in a few hours.
The second Eurovision semifinal began with honoring the contest’s hits in the Ukrainian style. The hosts played the accordion and flutes, supported by the folk ensemble Kiev.
Prior to the show, NaviBand were at the venue for 8 hours. During a dress rehearsal, the director and the vocal coach made their amendments to the stage performance.
Eurovision fans started arriving at the International Exhibition Center two hours before the show. NaviBand was supported not only by Belarusian and foreign fans — the press zone featured journalists from various Belarusian media and TV channels.
NaviBand are the first representatives of Belarus to perform in the native language, which is in line with this year’s Eurovision motto Celebrate Diversity.
Belarus has not advanced to the Grand Final for the past two years, which is why waiting for the voting results was really nerve-wracking. International jury votes combined with viewer votes resulted in NaviBand reaching the final.
The Belarusian artists will perform their song Story of my Life in the Belarusian language in the first half of the Grand Final on May 13.
We create the story of our life together!
