By Dmitry Smirnov: The Lubcha Castle, Belarus’ only Renaissance-style castle and the Radziwill family’s residence, has a 16th-century stone tower and is surrounded by a defensive moat.
The first owner of the Lubcha Castle was Jan Kiszka, a magnate of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. After his death, the property was inherited by a representative of the Radzivil family, Mikolaj.
Being an example of Renaissance architecture, the Lubcha Castle is put on par with the Nesvizh and Mir Castles. Today, the ancient building is being restored by volunteers – students, scientists, historians and patrons from across the country.
