Slavic Bazaar opening ceremony to be broadcast on Belarus 1 at 22:00

By Inna Pilevich: 5,500 artists from 44 countries are gathering in Vitebsk to participate in the Slavic Bazaar Festival. The opening ceremony will take place tonight at the Summer Amphitheatre. 15 venues of the city are already offering entertainment programmes, which includes fairs, exhibitions and theatrical performances.

Participants of tonight’s opening ceremony – Liya Akhedzhakova, Ruslan Alekhno, Gleb Matveichuk and Dmitry Guberniyev - have arrived in Belarus’ cultural capital from Moscow at 5 a.m.

The winner of the Belarusian President’s special prize Through Art to Peace and Mutual Understanding will be announced at the Summer Amphitheatre in less than an hour.

Participants of the young performers contest will take the stage of Vitebsk’s Summer Amphitheatre for the first time tonight. The Grand Prix and a cash prize of 20,000 dollars will be competed for by singers from 21 countries, Columbia being this year’s debutant.
