Executive Supervisor for Junior Eurovision Jon Ola Sand visits Minsk

18 января 2018

Jon Ola Sand, the Executive Supervisor for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, has visited Minsk for the first time to discuss routine issues with Belteleradiocompany. The main media holding of the country is organizing the 16th Junior Eurovision these days.

Today, Jon Ola Sand met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Zharko. After that, the Executive Supervisor visited the sports complex Minsk Arena – one of the venues for the Junior Eurovision 2018. Back in 2010, the Arena had already hosted the song contest. Jon Ola Sand noted that Minsk Arena meets all the requirements for a Eurovision venue.

Ivan Eismont, the Deputy Chairman of Belteleradiocompany: "We looked at the auxiliary rooms and rooms for the press. Our European guests were favourably impressed. Minsk Arena is a perfect place for such an event. In Georgia, if I'm not mistaken, just over 2,000 spectators attended the Junior Eurovision Grand Final. Minsk Arena definitely has a much bigger capacity."

Next, Jon Ola Sand visited Belteleradiocompany, where a number of routine issues were discussed, including the financing and matters of organizing the song contest. Belteleradiocompany and the European Broadcasting Union will sign an agreement on holding the contest in Minsk.

In a month, Jon Ola Sand will visit the Belarusian capital again. The next meeting of the Supervisory Board is scheduled for 15 February.
