Dmitry Smirnov: More than 100 accredited journalists from Belarus and abroad and about 10 000 visitors. Shchuchin is getting ready to host the 22nd National Day of Belarusian Written Language. The organizers have taken care to put in order the main historical and cultural sites of the city. The architectural center including the former palace and park complex of princes Drutsk-Lyubetskys will get a new image after a major renovation.

More than 100 years ago, in the 19th century, the Palace of Drutsk-Lyubetskys in Shchuchyn was the center of local lands. Balls, soirees and salons. Now in 2015, the prince's palace will acquire grandeur again.

The historical halls of the palace will be a center of creativity for children and youth. There is a new platform for its funds at Local History Museum. Due large-scale restoration work the experts were able to save the prince's pristine interiors. Today Shchuchin looks like a big construction site.

For the first time the holiday was held in Polotsk in 1994. Then the holiday was hosted by cultural centers such as the Turov, Novogrudok, Nesvizh, Zaslavl and others. During its long history the day became a landmark event in the cultural life of the country.

This year's festival promises to be especially ambitious. More than 100 representatives of Belarusian and foreign press will be accredited. The total number of visitors will be about 10 000. This is almost a third of the population of Schuchin. As for the events, the guest will enjoy tents of folk artists, exhibitions, book presentations, poetry recitations, medieval tournaments, literary evenings and performances.

Schuchin will also open celebrations dedicated to the 500th Anniversary of the Belarusian Book Printing.
