By Marina Romanovskaya: Marc Chagall was born on July 6; however, he observed his birthday a day later, believing in the magic of numbers. The famous artist’s 130th birth anniversary was celebrated in his hometown of Vitebsk at several venues. The festivities featured a documentary film screening, a theatrical procession, an exhibition by young artists, the play Chagall, Chagall by the Yakub Kolas Drama Theatre and the play Chagall. Exodus by the Belarusian Theater Lyalka.
A portrait of Marc Chagall by German artist Hermann Struck will become part of the Marc Chagall Museum’s collection in Vitebsk.
The Marc Chagall street in Vitebsk is home to the Vitebsk Art College where once Chagall and Malewicz worked. The architectural monument will soon be open to visitors as a museum.
Budding artists have adorned Vitebsk with quotes by Marc Chagall, who also engaged in literary activities.
