By Daria Tarasova: Napoleon Orda implemented an unprecedented large-scale art project of the 19th century, depicting practically all estates of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – the territory of the modern-day Belarus.

Orda’s original drawings have not been preserved in Belarus. However, there are lithographs based on his works. The artist’s lithographs are partially kept in Belarus’ National Library and National Art Museum.

Napoleon Orda was also an outstanding composer and musician, who published his own musical grammar, created numerous musical works and 14 polonaises. His music is now performed at Belarusian State Philharmonic and the country’s major theatres.
