Chinghiz Aitmatov’s book presented in Minsk

Chinghiz Aitmatov’s first novel The Day Lasts More than a Hundred Years was presented in Minsk. This is the second edition of the Kyrgyz writer in the Belarusian language. The book was translated by the poet Mikhail Streltsov. The illustrations were made by the national artist of Belarus Arlen Kashkurevich. The edition is devoted to the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Minsk and Bishkek. Also, this year marks the 90th birthday anniversary of the Kyrgyz writer. The celebrations are held under the auspices of UNESCO.

Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus: "Almost all of Chinghiz Aitmatov’s works have been translated into Belarusian, so the new generation will also read these books. Chinghiz Aitmatov’s work is still relevant – the characters of his books and the themes he raised are what we see now."

Alexander Karlyukevich, the Minister of Information of Belarus: "Our media are actively cooperating with Kyrgyzstan. In particular, I would like to mention the project Soyuz-Eurasia, which was launched in addition to the government's parliamentary newspaper Zvezda. Its pages provide readers with information about various countries of the Eurasian Economic Union."

Chinghiz Aitmatov’s novel was published by the publishing house "Narodnaya Asveta". The circulation of the book is 500 copies.
