State Hermitage General Director Mikhail Piotrovsky awarded Francysk Skaryna Order

General Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky has been awarded the Order of Francysk Skaryna. The ceremony was held in the Blue Hall of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation. Mikhail Piotrovsky received the award from Belarus’ Ambassador Igor Petrishenko on behalf of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Mikhail Piotrovsky was awarded for his significant personal contribution to strengthening and developing cultural ties between Belarus and Russia, the Decree signed by Alexander Lukashenko says.

According to Mikhail Piotrovsky, the cooperation between the Hermitage and Belarusian cultural establishments will continue. Next year, the National Art Museum of Belarus will host a unique exhibition of Buddhist art from the Hermitage’s funds. Negotiations with the Gomel museum on opening a joint exhibition dedicated to the Paskevich family are underway along with joint work on restoring ancient Polotsk cathedrals.
