Two unknown manuscripts signed by Francysk Skaryna's son Symon Rus of Polotsk have been found in the Czech Republic.
The search for the rarities was initiated by Belarusian historians. The finds are dated 1584 and 1590. Their copies are already being studied in the National Academy of Sciences.
Francysk Skaryna's son was first mentioned in documents in 1552, when he addressed the Czech king Ferdinand I regarding the legacy of his famous father. The discovered manuscripts, however, touch upon the health and treatment of Symon Rus.
The finds will be demonstrated to the public only after obtaining copyright. The documents are planned to be included in a new collection dedicated to Francysk Skaryna. Its presentation is scheduled for August to mark the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing.
