The National Art Museum of Belarus is preparing to present a truly sensational exhibit. Currently, work is under way in the Museum’s restoration workshops on the renovation of a Russian icon dating back to the early 19th century. The icon depicts a group of saints blessed by the Savior the Almighty. The icon is quite unique, considering its age and the technique that was used to create it, as well as because it features the extremely rare image of the Venerable Macarius of the Yellow Water Lake and the Unzha, the Miracle Worker. Also, the uniqueness of the icon is in the very fact of its appearance within the walls of the Museum – the relic is gift to the Museum funds from one of the residents of Minsk.

A special presentation of the icon will be held on 21 March – the birthday of the honorary Metropolitan Philaret of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus. The icon will then take its place among the exhibits of the collection of Old Belarusian art.
