Preparations for a large-scale exhibition of images of saints revered by both the Catholic and the Orthodox Church began in Minsk today. More than a hundred icons are now being unpacked in the halls of the National Art Museum. The works were created by modern masters from 15 countries, including Belarus, Great Britain, Germany, USA, France. The task was to depict the saints, glorified until 1054, when the Christian churches were divided into Eastern and Western churches. Most icons will be presented to the public for the first time.
Opening of the exhibition will be held on Wednesday, December 20, at the National Art Museum. Round tables, presentations of books, author's excursions and lectures are planned. After Minsk the exposition will leave for Perm.
