State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota has arrived in Vitebsk to participate in the festivities and meet with the region’s head Nikolai Sherstnyov. The parties stressed the need to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between the regions of Belarus and Russia. The Union State Secretary laid flowers at the Eternal Flame on Victory Square and spoke with war veterans and representatives of youth organisations. A conference featuring Union State Permanent Committee representatives finished a few minutes ago at the Slavic Bazaar international press centre.
Tonight the Summer Amphitheatre will host two concerts – an evening with Alexandra Pakhmutova and a gala concert by Belarusian and Russian music stars. There will also be a presentation of the Union State anthem titled An Angel over the City of Chagall.
