Nesvizh Museum-Reserve – one of top three most popular destinations for tourists

18 мая 2017

By Alexandra Dragun: Last year, the historical-cultural complex was visited by 400,000 people. Experts calculated the popularity ratings especially for 18 May – International Museum Day. For this event, many museums prepare new exhibitions and thematic programmes. Once a year, museums open their doors at night.

This year, a number of Belarusian cities and towns participate in the Night of Museums 2017.

In Zhodino, for example, the Local History Museum will present a variety of thematic interactive entertainment exhibitions. The exhibitions will include traditional Belarusian clothes, artifacts of the Great Patriotic War and the military post service, as well as retro photography devices.

Urban landscapes, autumn still life, and scenic landscapes will be presented, too. Today, the Zhodino museum opened its first open-air gallery. This is the so-called Fence art-project that features reproductions of local artists. The painters themselves will work here in real time.

Dzerzhinsk will present the ethnic style – master classes on making traditional dolls will be held. Starie Dorogi will follow suit.

Borisov is still preparing for the Night of Museums. On 20 May, 6 rooms of the museum will locate a calligraphy school, a shop with souvenirs made by Belarusian craftsmen, as well as retro photos of Borisov, and the Treasury of the early 20th century.

In the central region, the Night of Museums will last 3 days. On 19 May, Logoisk will host a joust competition, an auction and a dancing event in the style of the 19th century. On 20 May, residents and visitors are invited to an evening quest across the historical part of the city.
