By Alexandra Dragun: The international scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Michal Kleofas Oginski is featuring politicians, scientists and cultural figures from five countries. Among its topical issues are restoring family estates, staging operas by the famous composer and translating memoirs.
The thematic sections operating during the conference include round table discussions, debates and art exhibitions featuring fifty paintings depicting the Oginski’s palaces, family belongings, the portraits of Michal Kleofas and works from the Lithuanian Oginski museum.
The scientists are planning to organise a tourist route between the neighbouring countries to conduct excursions and explore the cultural heritage of the Oginski family.
A huge interest among foreign colleagues has been caused by a Belarusian opera titled Michal Kleofas Oginski – the Unknown Portrait.
To mark the 225th anniversary of the famous countryman, the college named after Michal Kleofas Oginski has opened an exhibition of its own archives and presents from foreign guests.
