By Natalia Bardilovskaya: The Mir Castle’s collection was replenished a few days ago with the only authentic artifact that had belonged to the owners of the castle. After a thorough scientific analysis it was recognized as the most expensive.
The original stamp of the Mir Castle’s first owner Yuri Ilyinich, who settled in Mir after the death of his father in 1495, was found two years ago by a local resident. The stamp depicting the coat of arms of the noble Ilyinich family gave an impetus to creating a monograph dedicated to the Mir Castle’s ancestors. The 400-page book compiled by Culture Institute researchers is currently being published and will be released in May.
The monograph creators used not only Belarusian archives, but also foreign documents. Apart from the Ilyinich edition, they have published five books dedicated to aristocratic families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
