The Radziwill family went down in history as the richest magnate family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Prince Matei Radziwill, a descendant of the famous family, has donated his personal collection to the National Art Museum. The collection includes numerous portraits, miniatures, about 20 medals, coloured engravings, lithographs, the Radziwill family tree, unique Slutsk belts and gentry silk fabric that was used for decorating magnate residences. One of the Radziwills’ portraits has been restored specially for the exhibition project. The exhibition is currently being prepared – all the paintings are being arranged in chronological order, taking into account the family ties of the princely family. The exhibition has been replenished with 37 portraits of the Radziwills from the National Art Museum’s collection.
The project is scheduled to launch on Tuesday. The collection owner, Prince Matei Radziwill, is expected to arrive in Minsk on 27 February.
