Flowers from Head of State laid to monument of Yakub Kolas

Belarus celebrates the 135th anniversary of the birth of Yakub Kolas. Flowers from the Head of State and wreaths from representatives of the literary community were laid today at the foot of the monument to the writer. Alexander Lukashenko sent a greeting to the participants of the solemn events, noting the importance of the classic of world and national literature for the cultural wealth of the nation. A native of a small village in the Stolbtsy district opened the beauty of his native language to the whole world. The works of Yakub Kolas were repeatedly translated into foreign languages, and the poet's poetry collection was brought into space by first Belarusian cosmonaut Pyotr Klimuk.
