B&W drawings of Hermann Struck to be shown in Minsk

Some 50 works of German artist, a major B&W master and a teacher who brought up the whole galaxy of eminent masters will be presented in the National Art Museum. During WWI the artist served in the German army and was on the eastern front, often visited western Belarus, Lithuania and Latvia, created sketches there, some of which are presented at the exhibition. In addition to landscape motifs, Struck portrayed domestic scenes, made portraits of ordinary workers and famous figures, including the founder of the Kaunas Museum T. Daugirdas. The collection of Hermann Struck's works was presented by a private Minsk collector.

Svetlana Aneiko, Scientific Secretary of the National Art Museum of Belarus:

"The exhibition from the collection of Vladimir Bogdanov is an example of cooperation of the museum with our private collections, opening them to the world, estimating the significance of the collection, seeing something for the first time."

Among the works there is a portrait of Chagall dated 1922.
