31 октября 2017

Today, the premiere of the renewed ballet Spartacus took place in the Bolshoi Theatre. The play has been in the theatre’s repertoire for 37 years now.

The new version of the production is timed to the anniversary of the choreographer Valentin Elizariev. The People's Artist of the USSR has recently celebrated his 70th anniversary.

The choreographer and teacher served the Belarusian academic scene for 36 years. For a long time he held the post of artistic director of the theater. Owing to the talent of the great master, the Belarusian ballet became known far beyond Belarus. Tickets for the new version of Spartacus were sold out a month and a half before the premiere. The next performance is scheduled for 2 December.

Also, this Thursday – 2 November – the Bolshoi Theatre will continue celebrating the great master. A festive concert will bring together the stars of the world scene, including Yury Grigorovich, Nikolay Tsiskaridze, Radu Poklitaru, as well as many colleagues and students of Valentin Elizariev.
