Union State Day in Vitebsk traditionally started with the laying of flowers at the monument to soldiers-liberators in the Victory Square. Later, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota met with journalists at the international press center. The conversation touched upon the implementation of new Union State programs, as well as priority areas in Belarus-Russia cooperation. Union State Day was traditionally marked by a round table discussion at Ilya Repin’s Museum-Estate Zdravnevo. The final Union State Day event — an anniversary concert by the Syabry ensemble — will take place tonight at the Summer Amphitheater to be broadcast live on the TV channels Belarus 1 and Belarus 24 at 22:00.
The Vitebsk concert hall is currently hosting the semifinal of the 26th International Pop Song Performers Contest. 15 out of 21 contestants selected by the jury will advance to the final. Belarus is represented by 19-year-old Egor Sharankov, who will take the stage at number 14 to perform a folk song. The contest final will take place at the Summer Amphitheater tomorrow.
