Polotsk to host Belarusian Written Language Day next year

9 ноября 2016

Next year’s Belarusian Written Language Day will take place in Polotsk. The choice has been based on several upcoming significant dates, such as the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book-printing and the first Bible published by Francysk Skaryna, as well as the 1155th anniversary of Polotsk.

A monument or a memorial sign will be unveiled in honour of the holiday. To celebrate Belarusian Written Language Day, an eventful programme will be compiled to include concerts, literary meetings and exhibitions. These issues have been discussed at today’s first meeting of the organising committee on preparing and holding Belarusian Written Language Day in Polotsk. The meeting highly praised Rogachev – the city that has hosted this large-scale event this year.
