By Nina Mozheiko: Minsk was chosen to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. This great victory became possible owing to Belarus’ impressive experience at the contest. 7 years ago, Minsk hosted the music forum for the first time. Experts admit that Belarus has become the trend setter in the Eurovision fashion in all respects, including technical matters.

This year, the contest will be held in Tbilisi. The warmest city in the post-Soviet space will host the Eurovision for the first time. Nevertheless, Georgia has an impressive history of victories at the contest. The country claimed victory at the Junior Eurovision 3 times.

In about a month, the Olympic Palace in New Tbilisi will become the main venue of the music forum. The arena can accommodate 3,000 spectators. At the moment, there is a basketball court here, but in a couple of weeks a professional crew of the European Broadcasting Union will come here and start installing the stage. This year, it will be in the shape of a giant sun.

In the meantime, Belarus has immediately started preparing for the Eurovision 2018. The next Junior Eurovision will open a season of hospitality in Belarus. Two more large-scale forums will be held in Belarus following the music contest – the 2019 European Games and the 2021 IIHF World Championship.
