Kupala Night, or Kupalle, is one of the oldest folk festivals of the Sun, summer maturity and green meadows. It is believed that on the Kupala Night trees, grass and animals are talking and hidden underground treasures are glowing. The main pastimes on Kupalle is jumping over a fire to clear oneself of disease, weaving wreaths and setting them adrift on rivers, doing circle dancing and, of course, searching for the fern flower (Paparats-kvetka). This amazing flower is believed to bloom only for a few moments at midnight, and whoever finds it will get all the hidden treasures, find wisdom and will be able to understand the language of animals and birds.
This year's Kupalle entertainment programme is diverse both in the capital and beyond.
