By Natalia Bordilovskaya: Belarus is celebrating the 134th anniversary of the birth of national poet Ivan Lutsevich known worldwide as Yanka Kupala. His birthday is widely celebrated every year in Belarus. This year’s main celebration venues will be a memorial park in Vyazynka, the poet’s homeland, and Minsk’s State Literary Museum.
An honouring ceremony is currently taking place at the monument to Yanka Kupala in Minsk featuring a large delegation consisting of representatives of the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum, writers and Minsk schoolchildren.
This year’s solemn procession has been joined by representatives of the State Museum's Union the Art Culture of Russian North. The guests from Russia’s Arkhangelsk are scheduled to hold a series of master classes for Belarusian museum workers.
One of the most vibrant events dedicated to Yanka Kupala - a festival of folk music, poetry and crafts - will take place this Saturday, 9 July, in Vyazynka.
