By Inna Pilevich: Belarus' representative Nadezhda Misyakova has received the 1st slot in the Eurovision draw. The running order was announced at yesterday's opening ceremony of the 12th annual song competition.
The official residence of the President of Malta, which is generally closed for visiting, has made an exception for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The opening ceremony at the Verdala Palace brought together delegations from 16 countries and media from all over the world. For the first time in history, the Junior Eurovision was opened with a red carpet parade of the participants. Our delegate Nadezhda Misyakova welcomed Eurovision fans and gave a live interview in English to the Maltese television and the contest's official website.
The participants have a week left to get ready for the competition.
The Junior Eurovision has refused from the blind draw, with only the 1st and 16th slots chosen at random. The rest have been picked by the show producers to avoid the sequence of songs belonging to a similar genre.
Today, Nadezhda Misyakova will sing her contest song to Maltese students and record current Eurovision's hit jointly with all the participants.
