The National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus will open its 85th theatrical season with a new edition of La Traviata by Andrejs Žagars, the Latvian director. In early October, Le Corsaire, the ballet, will premiere. The international production team preparing the premiere also includes the ballet master of the Mariinsky Theater of St. Petersburg – Vyacheslav Khomyakov. The whole dance company of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus has started the preparations.

Vyacheslav Khomyakov, the ballet master and choreographer of the Mariinsky Theater (St. Petersburg, Russia): "Belarus is the homeland of my ancestors – my father and my grandfather were born here. Next weekend, I'm actually going to the village where my relatives come from. So it is very pleasant for me to work here. Also, the Belarusian troupe is very professional, and working with such professionals is a great pleasure for me, because I have worked in different countries of the world and I have a lot of impressions and experience to compare the work here with."

Le Corsaire will become one of the large-scale repertoire performances of the Bolshoi Theater. At the moment, about 250 sketches of costumes and 200 props have been created. It is planned that a real ship will be put on the stage. More than half of the whole troupe of the theater is now working on the performance.
