On 26 January, 2003, the national songwriter Vladimir Mulyavin passed away after eight months following a terrible car accident and a long rehabilitation first in Minsk, and then in Moscow.
The creator of the legendary Pesniary Ensemble has become part of the history not only of his country. Former Soviet republics and even the whole world remember Mulyavin as an outstanding musician. His songs that hit the heart became the national treasure of Belarus.
Two monuments immortalized the memory of the People's Artist – one of them is in Mulyavin’s hometown – Yekaterinburg, and the other is in Minsk, in the city where Vladimir Mulyavin lived and worked for many years.
Close relatives, colleagues and admirers of his work will come to the Eastern cemetery in Minsk today to honour the memory of the great musician.
On Sunday, "The Main Air" will televise a special report on Vladimir Mulyavin – on his life and work.
