President meets with Belarusian Orthodox Church Synod to discuss interfaith peace

Interfaith peace, dialogue between the church and the state and its integration into social processes were the main subjects of the President’s meeting with the Belarusian Orthodox Church Synod, which took place at the All-Saints Church this week.

Belarus is home to 85 % of Orthodox Christians and 15 dioceses. 1,121 churches have been restored over the years of the country’s independence.

Thursday’s three-hour discussion focused not only on the achievements, but also on further development ways. One of the initiatives put forward at the meeting is the revitalisation of the advisory council on morality, separate issue being interfaith peace.
